It’s time to get interactive

Six degrees and all that. I adore the principle of connectivity and the randomness of the blogs. Over the last year I’ve read blogs that have affected my life and views. It’s always been random. So in the spirit of randomness I will ask a question? What makes you curious, who’s lost the plot and what would you like to question or challenge? Tell me. Give me the detail, facts and links. I request the blog-sphere suggest what I blog.  I will start with a few thoughts and let’s see where it goes. It could be the start of something big. It might not. Go ahead. Give me a challenge. Animocracy

Not sure where I stand on this tricky issue.  In the UK we are affectionately known as a nation of animal lovers. So it makes sense that we collectively pressure the science community to reduce the use of animals for testing drugs. And over the last 20 years we have seen a fall in the number of animals used in testing.

But what is the alternative? Activists speak now!

What I love is the irony. As a nation we spurn extremism but check out this quote from a recent BBC article:

"We view the United Kingdom as the Afghanistan for the growth of animal rights extremism throughout the world. The animal rights movement that we are dealing with in the United States is a direct import from the United Kingdom."

We are the Afghanistan of Animal Rights – is this hilarious or serious?

So if the UK jihad on animal testing results in an Animalban regime then who will we test new products and drugs on?  Or is this all about halting progress? Mhhhh sounds familiar… where have I heard this before?
